With foreign film Cold War being nominated for three Academy Awards, Cinestaan Film Company (CFC) has reasons to celebrate, as they are one of its executive producers.
The sales wing of CFC, C International Sales, represent critically acclaimed Indian films in international markets. They were also the exclusive sales agency for Mukti Bhavan (Hotel Salvation), which released in over 30 countries and has just completed 100 days in Japan.
Says Rohit Khattar, Chairman, CFC, “We are delighted that our mission to build a boutique studio championing stories that resonate with a global audience is paying off. We have an eclectic mix of international and domestic films in the pipeline. Since its inception, our overseas distribution wing, JV Cinestaan AA Distributors, along with our partner Anil Thadani and our international sales division, have had a very rewarding two years.”
Co-productions have also worked for the company. It had a 50-50 partnership with Film London for The Hungry, which was premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. Very soon, The Torch, another 50-50 coproduction with IFC Films, will also hit screens. This will be followed by Asha And The Street Dogs, a co-production with Newscope Films.
Cinestaan is also looking forward to produce award-winning filmmaker, Gitanjali Rao’s first feature animation, Bombay Rose.
